Jon Lee Anderson became a staff writer for the New Yorker in 1999. He reported from Iraq both during and after the war in 2003 and has covered the conflicts in Afghanistan and Angola. Anderson has also profiled Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and Saddam Hussein.
He was born in the U.S. but was educated and raised in South Korea, Taiwan, Columbia, and many other countries.
He began his career as a reporter for the English-language weekly The Lima Times in Lima, Peru and was a reporter for Time magazine in Central America. His work has been published in the New York Times and many others. He has also been involved with television documentaries on Panama, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Bosnia.
Francis M. Deng is an expert on conflict management and U.S. and Africa relations. He was born in 1938 in the Republic of Sudan. His occupations are as a writer, diplomat, and a scholar. He graduated from Kartoum University in 1962 and Yale Law School in 1965. He was the director of the Sudan Peace Support Project, the minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Sudan from 1976-1980, and a Sudanese Ambassador to the United States.

In 2008, she picked up two Foriegn Press Awards - TV News Story of the Year and Broadcast Journalist of the Year. In 2008, she was shortlisted for Young Journalist of the Year at the Royal Television Society Awards.
